Celebrating a Milestone with Talent

Mrs. Janette Bowers has been one of The Abbey at Westminster Plaza's Independent Living residents since 2014. In celebration of her 90th birthday, Janette authored and released a book — "The Ginny We Remember" — a heartfelt tribute to her friend, Virginia Irvin. The community welcomed about 200 guests that day, many coming to show their love and support for Mrs. Bowers.

The book tells the true story of a remarkable young woman who graduated from Reagan High School in Houston, Texas, and attended Sam Houston State College where she majored in music. She went on to build an amazing career in both music and the development of young people's lives — a career defined by her unwavering dedication to sponsoring Philos and music.

Mrs. Bowers is one of the many residents who bring extraordinary richness and depth to our community. At The Abbey, we celebrate every resident's story — because every life lived fully deserves to be honored.
